Sandtex Exterior Paint or Similar?

Please help, I'm looking to paint the whole exterior of my house in the next week or so and need to start shopping around for paint! At a guess I'm going to need about 50 litre of masonry. Sandtex is a name I've used before but is there anything out there worth recommending? Where would be the best place to buy any spring offers out there at the moment? Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::j

I was at Stax (a wholesaler) at the weekend and noticed that Sandtex seemed reasonably priced and was claimed to be guaranteed for 15 years. The Polycell was on promotion and the packaging was clearly aimed at the retail market. This too was claimed to be guaranteed for 15 years. The Leyland Granocryl came cheaper, but the guarantee was only 10 years. There was Palace Chemicals as a cheaper product, but I would play safe and go with one of the others. I also take the guarantees with a pinch of salt, but they should reflect on how the paints last relative to each other.
Little point in quoting prices - there are different size tubs, it depends on what you are negotiating, and you may have to allow for primer, or stabiliser.
Poycell prices should be easy - ask at your local Crown Trade Centre. Likewise Leyland - ask at your local Johnstones/Leyland/PPG Trade Centre. Both should be open to negotiation and I would expect them to price match, or more likely undercut, the DIY Sheds.
Hope this helps.0 -
Had our house painted 2 years ago and the painter we used recommended Sandtex Trade paint as it was thicker and better, I thought he was daft but comparing the two (Normal Sandtex and the Trade Sandtex) there was a noticeable difference.
I've used cheaper brands in the past but they haven't lasted like Sandtex does.0 -
Screwfix have 10L sandtex for £25 at the moment, which is a good price.0

Weathershield is equally as good, as suggested buy the trade packs as they will cover better and the job will be quicker as a result, same goes for interior paint as well.0

sandtex is not all that. take a look at Isonit Nordic water based acrylic paints that are designed for industrial applications. Arounf £100 for 25 ltrs and hire yourself an airless sprayer from a good hire shop. 100 sq mtrs a day, two coats, your done, Decor8 in Bury lancs sell and do deliveries.
10-15 yers minimum and lots of colours.0
