Problems with Scottish power billing

I wondered if anyone could offer any advice (please be kind - i am first time poster long time lurker!)

It is a very long story so i will try and make it brief.

In 2013 I moved to Scottish power for duel fuel, and after joining the cheap energy club, found out that there was a cheaper supplier with edf. Did the switch in July 2014, no problems. I did closing readings, all went smoothly.

In December 2014 cheap energy club emailed to say i was at the savings limit, I could save £100 per year if i went back to Scottish power. I put this transfer in motion, and the swap went through late December 2014 (i didn't find out until I was emailed afterwards, so couldn't get exact readings).
Fast forward march 2015 (after i provided a meter reading feb 2015) and Scottish power tried to take £922 out of my account unexpectedly. I only had £10 in the account!! I recalled it as an unauthorised direct debit, and contacted scottish power, who told me that it was a charge for mis-billing that had happened in 2014 as estimated readings had been done (they hadn't - i do readings).

After a very upsetting day stressing over finding £900 i worked out that they had done an estimated reading recently (2015) and used this as my closing balance for 2014, meaning they were charging me for 9 months electricity that i had paid to someone else.
I have tried to log a complaint about this but there is no complaints department, I am just told that a call back is logged and it can take 10 working days to respond. I have tried to email a written complaint and this doesn't happen as I am limited what i can write because of the character count, and I get an automated message about someone contacting me in 10 working days.

The reason i am stressing so much is that the owing of £922 was placed on my closed account, now on the new account which i started in December 2014, i have now been billed and told that I owe another £600 on top of what I have paid direct debit. This works out to a £900 usage over 3 months. The £900 usage does not actually match the opening reads, and recent meter readings, there is £500 difference, but when I call I am told again that I will receive a call back in 10 days.

Can anyone please advise on how I can escalate this complaint beyond a call back. The thought of owing £1500 makes me want to cry, even more so as I know I don't owe it. I need this resolved as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance and I am so sorry for the rant. I tried to shorten as much as possible,

Do a search of all the SP posts on here and you will soon find some good advice

As I understand it, SP don't seem to appreciate you had left them in July 2014 and went to EDF.

You went back to SP in December 2014 and they are billing you to March 2015 including the period July - December 2014(when you were with EDF)

That seems about par for SP wonky computer system.

However you say: 'meaning they were charging me for 9 months electricity that i had paid to someone else.' but you were only with EDF for 5 months??

You don't say how much you paid in total to EDF - presumably you have bills?

What I mean is that they have charged me for the 6 months I was with edf (June, July, August, sept, October, November, and most of december) and for the end of December until March back with scottish power but with a different account number so it has been billed on that account too, and paid on the new account number. That makes the 9 months.
