Transferring files and programs from XP Home PC to Vista Home premium

Will the info posted earlier today for transferring from XP to XP work the same way for transferring from XP home PC to a Vista Home premium PC?
Also do I still use a category 5 cross-over cable?

Yes, it should work no problem, as long as both computers have network cards. Any Ethernet crossover cable will do - Cat 5, 5e or 6.0
