Stopping DLA, ESA and moving.

In a few weeks I'll be moving from Wales to England with my boyfriend. I claim ESA and DLA for anxiety problems. Will have be able to stop them with no questions asked? I want to be more independent and try working. I don't want to claim them while I'm there and I don't want it to cause any problems with moving into our flat. How quickly can they stop it?

As soon as you cross Offas Dyke.

We have a totally different health & welfare system in England run by a totally different political party.

You should just be able to phone up and cancel them. No idea how quickly they do this though.

You can claim DLA and ESA while attempting limited work. (search for ESA permitted work)
You can claim DLA while in work.
  • I know I can but I don't want to anymore. I just want to get off any benefits.

    Hey, I applaud you.

Shame that the other 50% of benefit claimants don't have your sense of pride and self reliance. They fight to stay on them!

Another question: we're going to pay the deposit tomorrow. My boyfriend will be the one paying the rent and everything, his name will be on the forms etc but they need some details from me too. Will they need to know about my benefits or will they check to see if I'm on them?
