  • The assessor that was sent out at the beginning of May indicated severe faults with the gear box and clutch but wasn't given the full background of the vehicle and therefore concluded that although the faults were there he couldn't say if they were there when I bought the car. After speaking with the f.o.s he was made aware that the car was booked in for the repairs 4 weeks after purchase which meant he could say without doubt the faults were there on sale. It has been a hard battle with various people and organisations to get a resolve to this predicament. It has taken 13 months of complaints, emails, phonecalls, changes of management to get to this decision.
I am not sure why each comment seems to be making me out to be a villain when all I did was buy what I thought was a decent car for my family with a nationwide franchise. If I had wanted a car that was unreliable I would of paid half the price from eBay.
The f.o.s have fully reviewed the evidence from emails to letters, reports and facts and sided with the underdog. Never again will I step for in a garage owned by Evan Halshaws and I suggest you do the same
  • Sorry if I sounded blunt but you could have made this a lot easier on yourself by not dragging this on negotiating for a better replacement or putting so many miles on the car. As soon as problems started cropping up you should have stopped using the vehicle, I'm surprised you were not told this. Your continued use would have been seen by the finance company and Evans as acceptance.

Evans aren't that bad in my experience, the replacement car was more than they had to offer even if it was black it would have been the lesser of two evils and you wouldn't be left paying a possible shortfall to the finance company or have wasted £3000 in payments and have nothing to show for it.
This was never going to be easy. Someone I know had a lot more trouble rejecting a brand new car with a severe un-reparable corrosion issue and that dragged on for 11 months and in the end he traded in the car with only 300 odd miles on it.
