What a wind up

What was the point of the ISA information in this weeks email? I can't open a new account with the Post Office because even applying online, they require me to send proof of ID through the post.

So, I have just spent an hour online, and on the phone, opening an account, and all for nothing! Good advice is always welcome - IF IT COMES IN TIME!

You might have had a lucky escape not opening an account.

How much are you trying to put in and which account is the money in now?

By the way, you can open an ISA anytime during the year, you don't need to wait to the deadline day so if you open next years one on Monday you'll avoid the last minute issues.

I've stayed with my existing ISA account, and just topped that up with the maximum for now. As you say, I can switch next year if I find a better deal.

Why? I was considering transferring my current cash ISA there. What's wrong with it?

Providers are allowed to accept applications to open an account and subscribe money to it provided they refund the money if identification checks are failed. They must close the account within 30 days if they don't get the information needed.

    1. No personal experience but lots of forum posts about hassle with them

    2. Cash ISA might not be best option for some people
