Default on mortgage

Hi
I have a default on my mortgage from 2013, at the time i was receiving government assistance towards paying the interest,
my mortgage company took too much then returned the payment, I then received letters advising me that i had fallen behind on my mortgage payments, on numerous occasions i requested a copy of my statement in order to view where this default had occurred but I never received a copy.
I am now in the process of applying for a new mortgage but obviously with a mortgage default on my file this will effect our chances.
I am in the process of writing to my mortgage company to request that the default is removed and would appreciate any help from you lovely people of the MSE forum.
TIA
Lucinda

If you feel the default or late payments is unfair and not an accurate picture of the account, then as you have complain.
Tell them you will take the complaint to the FOS and ICO if they do not resolve the complaint to your satisfaction.
You can also ask the FOS to write now setting out the complaint.
