Personally I think it's a disgusting idea. Why would you want to give a toddler an MP3/video player?

They need to learn to use their imaginations, not spend time lying on the couch watching mind numbing crap.

aye true all parents should talk/read to their kids

but kids will still watch tv

kids will always want to do what your doing

so as long as you don't have a tv anywhere in your house i think what your saying is fine

however if will watch tv then you should expect that your children will want to watch tv also and let them watch good programmes that will help with their imagination etc

    like

    in the night garden

edit: sorry poppycat reread your post

thought you were talking about in the night garden (which i obvioulsy think is great)

    i can't see the i-bear taking off myself..........as i don't have one

    i.e. daddy's mp3 player isn't inside a teddy

I think Duncan Ballentine had the right idea when he first saw it on Dragons Den - anyone who give this to a toddler to keep them quiet / help them get off to sleep should be done for neglect...

Been hearing so much about this i-teddy, what do all you MSErs think about it ?

A Limited number has gone on sale today on the argos website and wondering whether or not to waste £60 !

These are manufactured in China and will have been ordered in vast quantities as it is a new product. I wouldn't bet on this being in short supply. It's selling for £60 and you'll be lucky if it cost £5 to make.

I have a talking Winnie the Pooh that reads stories for my baby if he wants - he is 18mths old and loves it. It doesn't replace me reading him stories though and never will.

I am not keen on the i-teddy as I don't like the idea of the subscription stuff and I think that a child needs to develop their imagination without such gadgets.
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

The problem with manufacturing solely in China is that, should the demand outsrip supply, it's normally a 7 week or so wait until another shipment can be delivered. (sceptical mode) I think toy manufacturers sometimes engineer these so-called shortages to make the toy seem more desirable. It's a profitable scam, deliberatley limit the initial batch, create a buzz, get people thinking they MUST have this toy, get ebayers into it who end up buying loads to sell on thinking there won't be enough to go round at Xmas...then release a huge number of said toy in the run up to Xmas. Job done.
