Travel Insurance question

Hi :)

If you purchase travel insurance a few months in advance of your holiday, and since then find you have to attend hospital for tests, do you need to contact the insurer..... what is the position as far as cover. Obviously you declare pre existing conditions at time of purchase but what if something happens since purchase.

Thanks

I suggest you read the policy details to establish what is covered in terms of illnesses as many conditions don't need to be advised.

If your results are of a condition that is not included in that list of illnesses that don't need to be advised then you should contact them.

On my policy it says that you have a responsibility to inform them of treatmets, consultants, hospitals etc. I'd check or you may invalidate the policy.

My wife had a CT scan eight weeks before a holiday, she called her insurance company to inform them as symptoms also started after insurance was purchased, she then informed them of diagnosis, we thought it would be easier then if care was required while on holiday as there would be less to sort/easier to show it wasn't a pre-existing condition that had not been declared.

Thank you GwylimT ....that was my worry in case care needed abroad and they hadn't been notified... It is my sister who has new symptoms and waiting for tests and as we travel in about a month, it is best to tell the insurers by the look of it ;)
