  • You're misinterpreting me Money and making an issue of something that isn't helpful to the OP, but I would say "it's there so it stays there" as pretty similar to "I don't see why it should be moved just to benefit the owner".

As no-one has ever used the footpath, to your knowledge, it won't be a problem having it skirting round the buildings.

My concerns aren't with people using the footpath, its rather with any potential impact on a sale.

I have an appointment to see the definitive map next week. Will this be digital or physical? I presume physical as surely if it were digital, it would be available online?

I'm still tending towards the option of "not stirring the pot" - whilst it seems likely (or at least hopeful) that common sense would prevail and some kind of rerouting would be agreed, this is expensive (upto £3,000 according to the council website, and a minimum of £1,500) and time consuming (the house is on the verge of being listed - I'm not really wanting it to be held up by waiting, presumably months, for this to properly resolved).

Anyway - next step is to see exactly what is on the definitive map. (I presume this is a better scale than OS maps? The exact positioning on the OS maps is not at all clear)
