Mortgage Insurance

Dear all
I'm unsure if I have continued to pay an insurance for longer than required.....
I had a Halifax Total Mortgage Protection Plan (TMPP) which had: mortgage repayment benefit, life cover benefit and critical illness benefit.
In 2009 I paid my mortgage off, the advice given by Halifax was to continue the insurance but without the mortgage repayment benefit, which I have continued to do up until 2015.
I am now questioning whether the other 2 insurances were valid/required without the mortgage or if the name of the policy is leading me to believe this....
Any one have a clue?
Thanks in advance.

Quite normal for people to continue to pay their insurance if they repay the mortgage early. Indeed, I had a client die a few weeks ago who paid the mortgage off 4 years ago but retained the insurance.I am now questioning whether the other 2 insurances were valid/required without the mortgage or if the name of the policy is leading me to believe this....
The mortgage is irrelevant to the policy. It will pay out whether the mortgage exists or not.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
