We went for our honeymoon with Princess cruises. I really enjoyed it and there was opportunity for relaxation and adventure! But we were about 40 years younger than everyone else there. (That was 11 years ago, and I was mid twenties).
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

Older people can be interesting, says this youthful 62 year old.

Of course, I'm still 38 in my head, on our tour there were some teenagers with their relatives, they were a delight to be with, and I honestly don't think they were bored with us as we always asked how their day had been etc.

We have found that most people on a cruise are outgoing and love a chat, surely thats what its all about, meeting and enjoying the company of intelligent people!

  • Don't worry about the formal nights on cruises, we have never been to one yet. Just go to the buffet instead. There were a few other people there aswell.

If you want something much less formal, have a look at the Alaska Marine Highway which goes north from Bellingham in Washington State. It will take a bit more organising, and the routes take a bit of getting your head around, but it's a good 'different' option.
