Halifax Clarity Credit Card Cashback Offer

I've got a Halifax Clarity card which I keep in the drawer to use when travelling abroad. I received an email the other day saying I can get 1% cashback on (pretty much) all purchases on it for 3 months from 1st May. Sounds a pretty good deal to me; very hard to get that amount of cashback on a non-Amex card these days!
The only very slight snag I've spotted is that you have to phone up to opt in and I'm guessing they use that as an opportunity to try and sell you other products. Also the maximum is £20 a month.
Has anyone else received this email and have you spotted any other snags?

Is that on top of the £5 a month reward for spending £300? Assuming you have the Reward Current Account too to be eligible.
I've not received anything about this.0 -
Mmm good question. I thought this card didn't pay the £5 but may be wrong. I've only very recently (last few days!) opened a Reward Current Account but have had this card for a while for foreign spend.0

According to staff in my local branch this afternoon, the Clarity card is the same product for everyone, but the reward activates if the customer has a Reward current account in that month.0

Hmmm, it may be a new offer to encourage you to use their card (more).
You'd have to spend £2,000 a month to get the maximum payout.
Halifax Cashback Extras has been around for a while, offering pretty good discounts at some retailers. You have to opt in to these, but can do it online if you have online access to your account enabled.
I was recently offered and accepted 10% off at Morrisons (again).
@billbennett: what you were told is correct. There is only one Halifax Clarity card. Whether or not you get the free fiver depends on meeting the requirements.0
