Mortgage life cover

Just wonder if anyone here has managed to make a successful claim of mis-selling based on them being a single person.

My wife has a policy sold to her in 2006 and was told she had to have the policy - in actual fact she did not need to take the policy.

If she makes a claim how much could she get back? premiums plus interest?

In theory it is possible but difficult to prove it was totally pointless and even more difficult to prove she was told she had to have it as there is unlikely to be any evidence unless it really was required - in which case your complaint falls apart.

Interesting. I will be interested to hear from her later as to how she thinks she is going to succeed!

There has been some success in the past but more recently the FOS have been rejecting complaints on that basis given the long term nature of the debt.

If the policy includes critical illness cover then its normal to have life assurance included as it is usually a no cost or low cost addon (often just pennies). So, it is common sense to include it.

What evidence do you have to support the allegation that she was told that?
