Cheapest Online Payment/Ticket Purchase System

Hi,
Some friends of mine are hosting an event at their house which they propose to charge people for. How would you go about setting up an online payment or ticket purchase (i.e. PayPal, NoChex, WorldPay or Ticketmaster, Eventbrite, SeeTickets etc.)
It would be a good and convenient way for people to buy tickets to the event.
Many thanks for any advice proffered.

I understand Eventbrite is fairly easy to use, but I believe there's a charge if the event isn't free. No idea about any of the others, but I suspect NoChex, WorldPay and Ticketmaster would all have major hoops to jump through for accepting payment. Willing to be told I'm wrong ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

As most Banks and Building Societies are part of the 'PayM' system now, this might be one way of accepting payment.
It all depends if they are planning on having a collect on the door system for the tickets, or if they are wanting the tickets to be posted out.
At the end of the day, it all depends on the size of the event.Never Knowingly Understood.

Good afternoon Lieutenant.
Just for clarification, Paypal, Nochex and Worldpay are all payment services, whereas Ticketmaster, Eventbrite, and SeeTickets, are, I believe, event solutions and don't necessarily integrate with the payment services (I believe they may have their own embedded payments).
If you wanted to sell tickets from a website and use Nochex to accept payments then you just need to go to the Nochex' website and apply for an account.
Just be aware that if you are selling tickets in advance of an event there are likely to be restrictions on your account, such that you have limited access to funds until after the event takes place.
If you are interested in using Nochex, please discuss your event requirements with us when you open your account as we always try to help you (such as by making funds available in advance for things that you need to pay for up front).
Hope this helps,

Ticketmaster and ilk deal more with big events where they're selling tens of thousands of seats, so an event at a private house isn't going to be of much interest.
Eventbrite and Eventwax (slightly cheaper) cater to small-scale events and provide a payment gateway. You can push the card charges into the booking fee.
I don't know about your friend's house set-up, I can only assume it's sizeable in order for online sales to be realistic! However if this is his first such event it's absolutely imperative that he gets his insurances and planning permissions etc in place. If it's a bigger event, he really needs an independent event manager to help - there may be TEN's to get issued, there will be alcohol license conditions, there are traffic management plans to consider, etc. Safety-wise (and a good starting point for event planning) http://www.hse.gov.uk/event-safety/ is the bible. It's not a casual undertaking! PM me if you want a couple of contacts depending on the event size - from under a thousand to a stadium full.0 -
This is strange as unless the friend has made special arrangements such an event might be breaking fire, building control and planning laws and might not be insured as ordinary home insurance is unlikely to cover it.0

PS - do not look for the cheapest ticketing system, look for the one that suits your needs. Need bookable seating? Need smartphone check-in?
Also, if a gig is good enough to be chargeable, it needs security, which means splitting into front and back of house, which means accreditation, etc.0 -
