Advant Credit - HELP!! Fraud

Hi all

Sorry, not sure if I should be posting here so apologies in advance in the wrong section

Basically last week I noticed a payment pending with my online banking for advantcredit.co.uk that I didn't recognise

I contacted my bank and informed them that I didn't recognise the payment, cancelled my card etc

Having spoken to them today, they have issued a refund of said amount but informed me if the charge is contested I may have to pay out if proof has been shown. However I have also been informed that the payment set up has been an occuring payment. So now im at a total loss. I've no idea what actions I should be taking, apart from cancelling the card and I've no got a free credit check to see if there is any activity on my records which I haven't seen as of yet.

Having done some research it appears the operate as a payday loan company. I'm now worried that either my details have been compromised and how it may effect my credit rating etc

If anyone could offer any advice I'd appreciate it greatly

Kind Regards

Have you been looking at / applying for payday loans?

If yes then that's probably how it happened.

If no then talk to bank / plod about identity theft.
  • I havent looked at Pay day loans, as explained I've spoken to the bank but concerned at the lack of communication their end, I've had to do the chasing etc

You don't need to take any more action, your card issuer will look into it. If the company come back and confirm it's fraud, you won't be redebited. Your card details have probably been compromised and used by someone. It happens, as long as you check all your accounts regularly, i wouldn't worry about it too much.

Obtain copies of your credit report from all 3 agencies and check to see if there have been other applications made for credit/payday loans elsewhere.

If you don't have any free trials left, just pay the £2 fee, no need to be paying any more than that.

Okay then, let's rephrase the question. Have you been looking at loans or loan broker sites at all recently?

In order to set up a continuous payment authority this company https://www.avantcredit.co.uk would need to have got your card details from somewhere.

Have you entered them online recently, other than to buy something?
