San Francisco SFO Shuttle Bus

Hi
Does anyone know if it’s advisable to pre book (online from the UK) a shuttle bus from SFO to down town San Francisco? We land mid-afternoon local time and were hoping to just jump onto one of the shuttles nearby.
Also are these buses/coaches/etc easy to recognise & find.
Thanks

SJW,
How much is the shuttle bus? We took a cab downtown which was about $55 - if that's not massively more than the bus it might be worth it for the convenience. From landing to being in our hotel room took less than an hour!
Our 3 friends took the train and then a cab to the hotel, but that was only about $15 cheaper.0 -

We used this company a few years back

Excellent service however we were the last hotel of four to be dropped off so took a bit longer than expected. On the way back to the airport the hotel organised a taxi for us which was much quicker, more comfortable and not much more expensive.
San Francisco is a great place to visit.0 -
Much easier to use BART - cheap, reliable and very convenient for the city.0

We used Super Shuttle which took us from airport to hotel and back again. It is about $17 per per person one way. You could be sharing the lift but as it is a mini bus size it isn't that many people. Easy to find outside the airport and quick enough for us. Also we used them for New York.Wins in 2015

We got the Train (Bart?) dead easy to find in the airport and get into the SFO City. Might be worth investigating?0

i used BART as i was staying a 5mins walk from the city centre stop , all depends where you are staying , i wouldnt bother pre-booking although sometimes you save a couple $$$ by doing this , if its anything like LA or LV you just walk up and pay and your on your way"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0
