Cant get Lowell/Scotcall to send me details of the default?

I returned about 2 yrs ago from living abroad for 6 yrs. Then 4 months ago i got a copy of my credit file ready to start a mortgage application and i saw a £1600 default from Lowell which is apparently being dealt with by Scotcall.
I have spoken to both and requested a copy of the statement, they tell me it is for a Capital One credit card debt? Im seriously worried as i took this my credit card abroad with me for emergency use. I did use it to make 2 payments over there in 2010 but i gave my mum the cash when she visited and she payed the balance of £356.00 for me, which she did so the balance would have then been £0. I then stuck the card in my bedside draw and never gave it another thought. (stupidly i never contacted capital one to change the UK address on this card when my parents moved) To be honast i had no intention of using it again and just forgot it and didnt cancel it. Anyway i now see a default registered in 2012 and i can only suspect its fraud of some sort and i just want to see a statement to see where on earth this £1600 has been spent? Then i can begin to deal with this? So annoyed as its the only thing standing in the way of a mortgage! Its been over 2 months since Lowell and Scotcall put my account on hold and said they would contact Capital One for more details but i keep calling and they say they are still waiting for Capital One to get back to them? Im worried and annoyed about this and frustrated because every time they call they say they cannot give me a time frame as to when i will receive the information and i feel like im still going to be waiting next year at this rate? Surely they cant mess up your whole credit file when they have no infomation for what it may be? Anyone else know how long i may have to wait?
