Am I meant to declare?
Worried

Hello, I've recently bought some life insurance and PHI. These commenced on the 25th of July when we completed on our house purchase. I got referred on to the hospital for a colposcopy following an abnormal smear test. Due to the results going astray, I first learnt of this when I got the referral letter dated 20th July. It has just occurred to me that maybe I should disclose this to the insurance companies, as got notified before the policies started. Should I be lettig them know? Will this effect the premiums?

I don't think this should have any bearing on a life insurance policy, but I could be wrong. You've only been asked back for further checks, and it doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with you, even if you have to have treatment, as it would be a preventative measure anyway.0

From memory of my time in new business they may put your cover on hold until the results are in, technically I think it would be a pre existing condition and you would have to tell them but your best bet would be to ask your advisor.0

beccus is correct (especially NU as I have a case in that very position right now with NU "awaiting results of tests". Although its the same across the board mostly).
The gap between application and going on risk is a period you are required to notify the insurer of any changes.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi Worried.
No advice about the ins co but just wanted to wish you luck with your colposcopy and hope you get a good result.
Edited to add.....If you have any questions about the procedure feel free to PM me, Iv'e had it done. Or do a search on the site, lots of women on here have had it done too.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Thanks for that!
I've rang Norwich Union (life) and Friends provident (PHI) - Norwich Union have passed info on to underwriters and FP say I just need to write in and give date of when received referral letter and date of procedure, but both say should be fine and have no effect on policy. Will wait and see! Thanks for your advice!0
