I think an unintended consequence of requiring claiming and completing Universal Jobmatch online, is that the DWP would find it difficult in reality or at a Tribunal to argue that the same can only be done within the UK.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

And how would they return for an immediate interview or an appointment with the Jobcentre, its not just about actively seeking its about availability.

I could check at work about holidays abroad (I work on the UC Programme) but I am not in work until next Wednesday.

The first requirement for UC is that you are in Great Britain.

There are tempoaray exemptions but a holiday is not one of them.

What are the residence requirements for Universal Credit?

To get Universal Credit (UC), you have to meet certain residence requirements. You must:

be in Great Britain - although you can sometimes get UC if you're temporarily away or working abroad
be habitually resident in the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Ireland
have a right to reside in the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Ireland.

They would/can be excused actively seeking when on holiday.

Hopefully Jobcentre would realise they are on holiday when creating new appointment they didn't know of before, while they are on holiday.

Just commonsense, like most employers don't contact people when they are holiday.
  • Hi mclc2, thanks for starting the thread. I am going on holiday in a week, just wanted to find out what you situation was and whether you still received payments and not sanctioned for being on holiday.

  • Thank you for the link to the Regulations: they are clear.

See Sections 26 to 29 on page 6.

In short: you can go on holiday, but not for too long.
