Thank Puzzcat.
It has been a long journey, but to anyone with a way to go whenever I felt overwhelmed I just remembered the times when I couldn't sleep with worry or was terrified of the post arriving or phone ringing. I used to think that I had no rights as I couldn't make my payments and was at the mercy of my creditors. Now I realise I actually have the power, every single penny we owed will be repaid and I will not be bullied. Saying that some companies have been much better than others.
So to all of you who have years to go keep at it you will get there in the end and when it feels difficult just remember what it was like before your LBM.
After that ramble I really need a drink!0 -

Hi
Congratulations everyone!
Debt free for 14 months after paying off almost £60k! I like to take stock of our financial position on the debt free anniversary every month to make sure i never forget how bad things were at the height of our debt.
Keep going everyone, being debt free really is worth the struggle and frees you to make your dreams come true.
I emigrated 6 months after paying everything off, it had been our dream for over 20 years but we couldn't afford it with monthly payments hanging over us. Left the uk 8 months ago, still debt free and never been happier!0 -
I just paid £880 off the debts this month bringing the total outstanding to less than £7000 which is an amazing feeling. I calculated that at the height of our debts we were at £23k. I am plugging away and I am on course for December 2015. We are actually talking about how we would like to spend the estimated £10k we will have spare next year now. There are windows to buy and appliances in desperate need of replacement, all of which become a reality in January. I have just balance transferred £6k onto another 0% card (fee free - don't worry) which means once again this year, there will be no costs. I don't even learn the PINs for my credit cards so I cannot spend on them even if I was tempted.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
