Travel Republic price match

Morning
Yesterday I called Travel Republic because I wanted to book an hotel and flight to enquire if they would price match another company, absolutely sir was the comment.
Gave them the details of the other operator and the operative advised the competitor was more expensive than TR,I logged on and got the competitors price and again they were £58 cheaper, they would not agree and blatantly lied, they do not price match beware

Why would you bother with a price match rather than just buy from the cheaper company in the first place?

The problem with websites is that they can be fairly clever, any decent size company is going to have static IPs and so the other site, if it wanted to, could know that its a competitor visiting them and present different pricing. Now there are ways that a company can present an alternative IP to bypass this but if they're increasing their prices it wouldnt serve TR's purposes to do this.

I knew former insurers that would adjust pricing based on the visitors IP

If you know who operates the flights, usually easyjet, Ryanair or maybe Norwegian, just book direct with the airline and book the accommodation with the cheaper supplier
