Which lap top for my son who's off to Uni

Something like an Apple MacBook would be a good buy.
They generally last very well (when compared to Windows machines), especially in terms of value, and it's a nice out of the box solution.
The cheapest MacBook is £700, but I seem to remember reading if it's for educational purposes you can get it cheaper. I think it's around 5-10% so you could get about £35-70 off.
The problem is the software. There's not as much and it costs more.0 -
Hi
I would welcome any advise on what sort of lap top to buy and where to buy it for my 18 year old son who is off to uni to study business. He has a budget of between £500 - £750; wants a good enough bit of kit to hopefully last his 4 year course and doesn't want to waste his money on a poor purchase. Any info greatly received- we have absolutley no techie experience here. Many thanks
I recommend the Dell 6400 http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=702&a=1369542&g=19472&url=http://lt.dell.com/lt/lt.aspx?CID=5212&LID=122756&DGC=AF&DGSegHS&ACD=^^&AID=¤¤&DURL=http%253A//configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx%253Fb%253D%2526c%253Duk%2526cs%253Dukdhs1%2526l%253Den%2526oc%253DN08643, because it is a bargain at less then £400 (after taken off the 3 year warranty)
Remember as a student they will get a cheap Student copy of Office or just go for OpenOffice0
