This is quite an usual comp so worth noting:
ITEM 6: ENTRANT RESTRICTIONS • The Competition is open to UK residents aged 18 years or over at the date of their entry. • Both people taking part in the challenge outlined in ITEM 5 must be over 18. • Employees (and their family members) of the Promoter (or any company in the same group) or any company involved in the Competition, including the Prize Provider, are excluded from entering the Competition and their entries will not be considered. • Subject to them adhering to all the relevant terms and conditions of this competition, x2 teams, consisting of x2 people will be selected from all entries outlined on the dates stated in ITEM 4. • X1 team will chose to represent ‘team Steve’ x1 team will be chosen to represent ‘team Karen.’ It is at Bauer Medias discretion which team represents each presenter. Bauer Medias decision is final. • On Friday 10th April at the designated start time the two designated teams will be start at exactly the same location. This location is the ‘starting location’ This location is: Metro Radio, 55 Degrees North, Pilgrim Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 6BL. • On Friday 10th April at the designated end time the winner will be determined as those who are furthest away from the designated start point. • Other entry restrictions are as follows: • Contestants must be free on the morning of Friday 10th April – for the duration of the competition, and enough time before and after it to allow to get to / from the start and end points. • Contestants (both members of a couple) must also be available for around 2 hours to come to the address above between Tuesday 7th April and Thursday 9th April at a time that works for both the breakfast show producer and the couple, for an interview. The couples must make their own way to and from the station for this interview at their own expense. • The station will send out a member of staff to collect the participating couples from an agreed address (such as their home address) on the morning of the competition. This will be early enough to allow the couples to arrive at the radio station at around 6am. Transport will be provided by the radio station for this. • Once the competition has finished, the radio station will pay for / arrange transport for the couples to return home. • At all times during the competition, both couples will be accompanied by their own member of staff from the radio station. • The teams will be accompanied by one member of staff at all times during the duration of the competition. Each couple must also stay together and not separate. In the event of separation from the member of staff then the member of staff’s distance will be the deciding factor. The member of staff will stay where they got separated from the couple, or as close to this location as possible. If on public transport, the member of staff will get off at the next stop. • The station will not be liable for any loss or damage to personal possessions. If in doubt, please leave these at home. • The Competition is open to UK residents with a NE, DH, DL, SR, TS, YO or HG postal code aged 18 years or over at the date of their entry. • Employees (and their family members) of the Promoter (or any company in the same group) or any company involved in the Competition, including the Prize Provider, are excluded from entering the Competition and their entries will not be considered. • At the designated start time (likely to be 650am), the two teams will be given a designated mobile phone at certain times to contact the breakfast show only, a £1 coin along with a canvas set off from the ‘starting location’. Both couples will be made fully aware of the start and end times prior to the competition commencing. • Both couples must ensure that they have mobile phone reception at the end time of the competition (likely to be 950am). The station reserves right to disqualify any couple that they can’t get hold of at the end time. • Friends and family cannot assist you in this promotion. If at any time Bauer Media finds out subsequently that they did help, then the runner up will get the prize. • Neither couple can withdraw money to help them. • The member of staff with the couples cannot and will not offer any assistance that will help the couple get further than the other couple. • In the event that a couple decides not to take part, then a backup couple will be brought into play. If both couples decide not to take part, two back up couples will be brought into play, and so on until two participating couples are found to take part. • The couples must be prepared to come on the radio and be used in any subsequent publicity. • The street member holds on to the mobile phone apart from when it is passed to the couples to speak on the radio. Any features of the phone cannot be used to assist in the competition. • It’s at the station’s discretion whether the station will reveal the progress of either couple during the competition. The couples may be tracked via GPS or other means to determine their location. • Couples understand that they may be on the radio live at any time and must refrain from swearing. • The station reserves the right to cancel this competition at any time at its sole discretion due to any unforeseen circumstances without awarding the prize. • The couples taking part must be physically fit enough to take part – the contest may require running or continuous strenuous exercise and physical strength / weakness will not be considered an unfair advantage / disadvantage. Entering the competition shows acceptance of this. • Couples must not wear props that would be considered an unfair advantage such as roller blades / skates. • Should there be a tie-break, then the winner will be decided by a mechanic to be decided by the station on the day. • Couples must arrive at the finishing point still holding the canvas / picture they were given at the start. It’s at the stations’ discretion whether a couple who fails to do this is disqualified. • Couples taking part must sign a disclaimer prior to the competition starting. ITEM 7: ROUTES OF ENTRY AND COSTS You can enter by: (1) Registering your details at the designated point of entry on the websites listed in ITEM 3 and clicking submit. ITEM 8: JUDGING DETAILS An interview will take place prior to the start of the competition to decide which couples will take part from entries received. The team whom travels the furthest away from the ‘starting location’ with the canvas will be the winner of the competition, as defined as the ‘distance as the crow flies’ by https://www.freemaptools.com at the end time of the competition (likely to be 950am). ITEM 10: WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT The winner(s) will be announced on-air at the completion of the competition ITEM 11: PRIZE DETAILS A single prize consisting of the following will be awarded to the winner subject to the winner complying with all the terms and conditions applicable to the Competition: X1 3-night VIP cruise break package to Amsterdam from Newcastle for 4 people which includes the following: • Crossing from Newcastle – Amsterdam. • 2 night’s on-board ship in a premium cabin. • 1 night B&B in the Ibis hotel in central Amsterdam. • Dinner on-board ship on both crossings. • Breakfast on-board ship on both crossings. • Visit to the ships Bridge & meet and greet the Captain. • Coach transfers to and from Amsterdam when arriving and departing in Amsterdam. • General entry tickets to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. • 1 hour Amsterdam Canal cruise. • £1000 cash. Specific Prize Terms and Conditions: • The prize is not transferable and no cash alternative will be offered. • Both named members of the winning team must travel, along with 2 additional people of their choice who fit the prize fulfilment criteria. • Both the winning team members and their additional 2 guests must be over 18 and hold a valid UK passport in order to claim this prize. • No other costs will be covered other than those details listed above. • Winners must arrange their own travel insurance. • The prize is valid for travel until 15 December 2015, excluding bank holiday weekends & school holiday periods. School holiday periods are at the discretion of DFDS Seaways. • The choice of provider for the 1 hour Amsterdam Canal cruise is at DFDS’ discretion. • The winner must have a valid UK bank account in order to receive the £1000. Prize Fulfilment: • Prize will be fulfilled within 28 days of the completion date • On completion of the competition, Bauer Media will liaise with the winning team about the fulfilment of their prize and will transfer their details onto DFDS whom will be liaising with the winners directly regarding the specific booking of their prize. • The £1000 cash will be BACS transferred by Bauer Media subject to the winner having a valid UK bank account. ITEM 12: PRIZE PROVIDER [DFDS Seaways] (the “Prize Provider”). Please note that where prizes are provided by third parties, the prize may be subject to the terms and conditions of that third party. The prize listed in ITEM 11 is subject to availability and usual DFDS Seaways terms & conditions and competition terms apply. These are available on request by contacting the designated person in ITEM 16. The Promoter is not responsible for any aspect of the Prize, including unsatisfactory quality or late delivery. ITEM 13: DATA PROETCTION Entrants’ personal data (including telephone numbers and addresses will be collected by the Promoter and will be used to process entries. ITEM 15: OTHER CONDITIONS • Only entries received in accordance with these Terms will be accepted. • Only one entry per participant will be considered. • The Promoter has the right to disqualify participants if it reasonably believes participants have breached any of the Terms. • If there is any misunderstanding, mistake or dispute concerning the operation of the Competition, including the correctness or acceptability of any answers given by winner(s), or the operation of any technical/communications system, the Promoter’s decision shall be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into on this subject. • The correct answers to questions must exactly match the Promoter’s answers to win. • The Promoter has no responsibility or liability if participants fail to get through when they call to enter.
