Good post but I have to disagree with PC gaming being an 'enthusiast' pursuit. The PC gaming industry is over twice the size of the console industry and growing faster.

The problem with such statistics is that they inevitably take into account and are skewed by games such as browser based games, Facebook games etc. that are massively popular but are not really related to what I'm talking about.

Almost any computer can play Candy Crush Saga or whatever it is I keep get invited to on Facebook, and millions of people do which massively skews the figures in favour of the PC (particularly as those micro-transactions add up to huge money), but people who want to play Shadow of Mordor, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, The Witcher, Grand Theft Auto etc. need much better hardware and that is where PC gaming is still a largely enthusiast pursuit and that is the type of gaming I was referring to in my post.

That isn't to dismiss the Candy Crush Saga's of the world as in some way inferior because honestly it doesn't bother me what people find enjoyment in gaming wise but I think on the majority of gaming forums, even one such as this, most people would equate 'gaming' with something a bit more hardware-demanding. People who only play browser-based games are unlikely to lay down money on a GTX980 or R9 290X - based on my own observations from my Facebook friends who do play such games, I'd wager a substantial number of them wouldn't have any idea what those things are.

There's a few exceptions to the rule but titles released on console and PC tend to do better sales-wise on console.

Given the choice I would always be primarily a PC gamer, and was for many years (or even decades!) but family stuff means that rarely have enough undisturbed time these days but have always had a gaming PC knocking about since about 1991.

The consoles I bough alongside the PC were driven almost entirely by game releases which came out on them either exclusively, or way before the other platforms:

    I bought a Playstation1 for Grand Turisimo
A Playstation2 for GTA San Andreas
Then an XBOX360 for GTA 4

I added other titles later for each platform obviously, but the games listed were the only driving factor for their initial purchase.
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
