Transferring NCB

Hi
I have two vehicles and two insurance policies.
I'm selling one vehicle with 9 years NCB and my other vehicle has 2 years NCB and is just past renewal.
Once my first vehicle is sold, can I transfer my 9 years NCB to the other policy straight away or can I only do this by retaining the NCB and adding it at the next renewal?
Thanks

You will have to wait till renewal then substitute the 9 years NCD for the 3 years NCD.
If it's cost effective you could cancel the current policy (using the 2 years NCD) and put your car onto the policy with the 9 years NCD as a replacement for the one you are selling0 -

Most insurers wont allow you to change the NCD mid term but there is no harm in asking and you may have a slightly better chance if both vehicles are/were insured by them.
If they wont you can do it next year, most insurers will accept an NCD for up to 2 years and so if you did do it at renewal then you'd have a "spare" 3 year NCD that'd be valid for up to two years should you go back to owning a second vehicle.0 -
That was what I suspected
