Lindsell Train on iWeb

Options
iWeb do not show the fund Lindsell Train UK Equity Acc (ISIN GB00B18B9X76). When I queried, they said that it was "because it did not conform to U6 European recommendation", so they have chosen not to trade it (or words to that effect).

Does anybody know what this means? Seems to be traded OK elsewhere. I can only see (of ANY LT funds) the investment trust LTI on iWeb.

The phrase you are looking for is not U6 but "UCITS" which is like a 'brand name' of standards that applies to qualifying funds: Undertaking for Collective Investments in Transferable Securities.

UCITS is a European initiative - Unit trusts, OEICs and SICAVs etc that people invest into around Europe might happen to be UCITS or retail non-UCITS funds. I'm being lazy so you can google for the implications. I have some of each together with other things like investment trusts and listed investment companies and would not exclude something from my portfolio just because it didn't meet that particular package of standards.

And just because they have not signed up to that package of standards does not mean they actually have gearing, derivatives, unquoted securities and other stuff allowed by non-UCITS funds that you might consider undesirable.

The counterpoint of course is just because something is listed and available on loads of platforms doesn't mean it is worth having. Although HL have it in their Wealth 150 marketing list so it must be awesome, right ;)

I thought I found the Lindsell train fund on iWeb last week. I'm moving my ISA to them and it is one that I hold. I'll do some more checks to have a look again.

Their Global equity fund isn't Uk domiciled so that may be more of an issue but I don't hold that so hadn't checked it.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

You may have seen the IT. I'd be interested if it is a fund...
