in Credit cards
Hi all,
Ive been awarded ESA for the first time in my life and am asking the credit card companies to freeze interest payments for now. Only contacted one so far and they were really good but this is what they want to see as proof:
ESA letter (I have no problem sending them a copy).
Bank statement showing allowance going in (well yes thats ok I spose but not too happy)
Letter from accountant (I was self employed but its folded now. Bit nosey I think.)
Has anyone heard of this?
Thanks,
Kris

If you're asking for their financial assistance, then it's standard for them to ask for some evidence.0

This sort of thing is normal when asking banks to help.0

do be aware you are probably trashing your credit rating for the next 6 years0

I work in income recovery and ask for a LOT of information if someone requests a repayment plan. I need to be sure that they are telling the truth - and can also advise if I don't think a customer is gettting the right benefits so I'd like to think I can help them as well.
If the person is genuinely in need and has nothing to hide I see no reason why they wouldn't provide the information I am requesting.0 -
We should all have the right to put our credit cards/bills on hold while ill especially if you can show supporting documentation.0

I'd have thought 'only if' rather than 'especially'.0 -

what do you mean by 'the right'?
in the uK, defaulting on debts isn't a criminal offence so you already have that 'right'?0 -

Nope. If we could all take a payment holiday, regardless of whether we needed it or not then the cost of credit would go up.
