Cash Advance

A week ago I took out a cash advance on my credit card over the counter. I had to show ID and sign a slip. Anyway there is still nothing showing on my online CC statement. Usually it would appear straight away.

How come ?

Should I just keep mum. Will they come back to me in six months and demand the amount and interest on the money I withdrew ?

Thanks.

If it hasn't been stated on your statement then you don't have to pay. However, I am sure it'll be on next months statement. So, keep aside the money!

Did you take the money out of the same bank that your card is with? ie, Halifax bank with Halifax card or Natwest at Natwest branch? if not then this could explain the delay, but it should turn up sooner rather than later.

Remember as well that there will prob be interest accruing on a daily basis on the amount you took out, so you will have to pay back more than you took......

Yes my CC cash advance was taken out at the same bank that issued the card. I realise that interest is charged from the day the amount is taken out.
Still find it strange that my online statement is not showing the cash withdrawal.

A few months back I used a debit card in a convenience shop and bought a few pounds of stuff and a £10 cashback.
That never appeared on the bank statement either.Could be the fault of the shop not putting it thru properly of course.

If my CC company came to me in six months and said you took a cash advance on your CC but due to an admin fault we didn't process it properly but have found our mistake now, would I be liable for the cash amount I withdrew and all the interest for the six months ?

They have 6 years to come back to you, legally.

Not sure on the interest angle though.
