Been Refused Tax Credits

hi, i have recently split up with my partner who i was living with. We have a 1 year old baby and a mortgage together. Originally we were not entitled to any benefits as my partner earned to much but now he has left me n our home i applied for tax credits and they refused. They wanted documentation, council tax bills, electricity, bank statements etc and as my partner paid for everything i had nothing in my name to send them so they have refused my claim. I have now got electricity, gas etc changed into my name but my partner was paying £220 a month council tax, £100 of this is arrears for last year. ive been told that i have to pay this arrears because i lived with him in the property, obviously i cant afford to pay it as i dont work so i haver left that in his name and he is paying it i think!! They also wanted our mortgage statements, this is in joint names.
Can i re-apply for tax credits even though mortgage & concil tax forms will still be in my partners name or will it just be refused again? Im not getting any jsa as i left work less than a month ago, my partner is paying towards our mortgage which is also in arrears so he cant afford to do that and pay me child support aswell.

Hiya, I split from my husband in feb and rang the inland revenue. They cancelled the joint claim then sent me out a new claim for me on my own. You can still apply if names are in joint as my husbands name is still on my house and will be for a while longer. As you are not working go to your local neighbour hood office . You will get a fair whack off because low to no income and as their is only one adult in house. Get the council tax put into your name. I work 9 hours a week got three kids and get council tax benefit. I only pay £9.00 a month.
Good luck..0
