Job/duties changing - would rather redundancy!

Hoping for some help / advice.
The company I work for has made major changes / redundancies over the past 2 years. I am now left with duties which only cover a small part of my working week. I was hoping for redundancy and have just been holding out waiting for the notice. On Friday I had a call to be told that my job is moving departments and they would have a meeting with me to discuss this, this coming week.
I am assuming they will add tasks to the job as my current role really is redundant.
How much of my current role does a new role have to include legally? Is there a law for this? At what point can I refuse the change?
Are there certain steps I need to take?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I would really like to take redundancy!

I know that depends on my chances of finding another job that pays equally well or better but we have no mortgage, kids grown up but still at home and I'm not the main breadwinner.0
