Barclaycard - How many can you have?

I understood that you could only hold 2 Barclaycards - 1 x Freedom Rewards & 1 x Platinum.

While looking round for decent BT cards the BC Platinum popped up with the 36 month 0% offer. Ever curious I went onto their pre eligibility checker. The first question asked me if I already held a BC then a further question asked how many BC's did I have. I answered yes I had 2 cards.

I expected that at the end it would say I wasn't eligible due to having 2 cards already. Instead it came up with "Good News" and a list of various cards I would be eligible to have with a 90% chance of getting.

So have BC changed their philosophy on how many you can have?
Has anyone on here got more than 2 cards?

thanks

    Recently Barclaycard changed their policy, so you can have as much as they want to give you.

    yes, i understand no formal limit. i have had up to 4 at a time, but admittedly that has been a result of them taking over other card providers... Goldfish, Morgan Stanley UK, Egg etc.

    I've currently got 3x, all applied for directly (as in not held as a result of BC buying their original issuers) -
    Barclaycard Cashback Amex/Visa, was originally an initial (2005), then a Freedom Rewards (201?-2014);
    Barclaycard Platinum (2014-present);
    Barclaycard Hilton HHonors (2013-present).

    OH had, until recently, the Cashback (originally Freedom Rewards), Platinum and IHG Rewards Visa.

    I think they used to have a policy of 1x visa 1x MasterCard, but that seems to have been abandoned (and I don't think they currently issue any MasterCard products).

    In answer to my own question and in line with some others, I opted to apply for the 35 month BT card with lower BT fee than the 36 month BT card. I applied on Sunday night (29th) and it came back with no decision made, (I wondered if that was because it was Sunday night having read somewhere about instant decisions not always coming through at weekends).

    Anyway I received a text message on thursday morning to say my new card was on the way and it arrived in the post later that day. It came with a decent starting limit of £5K as well which is more than I expected, both my other Barclaycards have £3.5K limits, so I am chuffed with that.
