Hi,
My brother recently opened up First Direct 1st Account. He just received his debit card etc last week. He applied for FD Credit card through his internet banking. They just asked for credit limit required. At the end it said "Your application has been accepted" subjected to our eligibility checks and forms will be sent within 24 hours to sign". Is that been accepted then?
He did requested a lower limit - If it does go through is it possible to change the limit? I have been with First Direct for long time myself but have not personally requested any lending from them for a very long time so I do not know how they work nawadays.
Do FD pre-approved limits example if you have £1000 credit limit the contact centre adviser can see limit is available up to £3000.
Regards
MS

No, the big clue is "subject to our eligibility checks and forms will be sent within 24 hours to sign".
It means they received the application. It doesn't mean you'll get a card. It means there are still eligibility checks to do.0 -
I applied for mine over the phone too, I double checked at the end of the call, is that it? I'm accepted and will be getting the card and he yes yes, your card will be coming. I then asked for an additional card and was told that I need to ask for that once I have the card.0

They have a good offer at the moment for a free £25 if you get either the standard or gold card, which will be paid into your 1st Account within 45 days of a transaction taking place.
But the online application is simple, request your limit and they'll confirm within 72 hours of their decision. Essentially they'll just use the info from your 1st Account and application data from that & your credit file.0 -
My brother got an secure message the next day saying applicaton approved and forms on its way.
Regarding credit limit - Is it possible to request credit limit as soon as card received? I wondering if FD has pre-approved limits on their system?
Thanks

Don't think anyone can say for sure. But I assume there must be some sort of mechanism in place, from experience you log in to digital banking and simply click apply and confirm the limit you want and apply. No other questions asked. Minimum is £500 so I guess if you just wanted that you'd get it as they automatically give you a £500 % overdraft as standard. The higher you go, obviously you might go over what they fancy giving you based on how you run your bank account and then it'll need a underwriter to determine whether you're good for it or not.0
