Incorrect Default Date - Help please

Hi all
I have been monitoring my partner's credit report and he has one negative credit account which he defaulted on some years ago.
The loan was originally with Lloyds bank and was passed onto debt recovery agents. The default date on the report is 3/11/11 but he insists he has not paid them a penny since January 2008 and never had dealings with the debt recovery agents (he just ignores any letters that have been sent to him).
Is there any way I can get the date changed? All his current accounts are up to date and satisfied and this is the only thing holding him back.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Sounds like its statute barred. Look it up on national debtline website

They may have done it to get his attention. Then, when he complains, they ask to pay.
What's the history show on his credit report prior to this?
When did the DCA buy it?
And yes, it is possible to get this changed.

Thanks for the reply happy bunny.
The DCA entry is just showing a default entry for this month and everything else is blank? The original loan entry from lloyds shows the first non payment as being around 4 years ago but we know it was definitely 2008 as he changed his bank to avoid them taking his wages at the time. He's definitely not paid anything since.0
