Tesco Hijackacking RBS ATMs

So, reading between the lines, you expected someone from customer services in the shop to hand over money that they had no way of checking was yours?
Reading it like this I hope that you realise how ridiculous that is.
Any problems with ATMs have to be taken up with the bank that you tried to withdraw the money from, that is the only way the information can be checked. The bank that runs the cashpoint is irrelevant, it is always down to the bank that you are trying to do the transaction with. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Hi
Just responding to some of your replies it seems some of you are completely oblivious to the fact that Tesco's have housed all of their ATMs in units that state TESCO BANK. My argument is that if they want customers to believe that this is part of their service then they need provide services associated with it.
RBS ATM services have already expressed concern regarding Tesco displaying these ATMs as their own and are currently looking into it.
I will re-iterate my argument by saying that if you buy fuel from a Tesco garage that causes problems and is faulty do you complain to the supplier or to Tesco who sell it under their banner Tesco Fuels!!??
Anyway back to the argument, having 2 Banks involved with the running of 1 ATM will never work and Tesco need to back off and leave the running of the ATMs to RBS.
If however Tesco wish to continue to advertise these ATMs as part of Tesco Bank then they need to put in proper procedures and a customer care programme that is all part and parcel of the package.0 -
If you feel strongly about it start a petition.0

You are wrong. I used the ATM at my local Tesco this morning and nowhere did it say TESCO BANK.0 -
I think whoever owned the machine would have told the OP to take the matter up with their own bank.
Presumably the branding on the machine has been in place since Tesco Bank was a joint venture with RBS.
Even if the machine was owned/operated by Tesco (Bank) and the OP was trying to make a withdrawal from a Tesco Bank account, I doubt shop staff would have been able to offer assistance with the machine.0 -

No in store staff wouldnt have been able to do anything, its the same with other ATM's at the other supermarkets, the staff wont be able to offer any help.0 -
A brand new Tesco Extra has just been opened in my area with a TESCO BANK unit in place, but any problems you have with the ATMs is and I quote 'Nothing to do with them' and to contact RBS.
So what you have is Tesco advertising these cash machines under TESCO BANK but when problems arise they simply absolve themselves and pass the buck onto RBS,
The words ' eat it' and 'Cake' come to mind.0 -
It used to say Tetley Tea on the side of buses but you couldn't get a cup.0

OP whilst I appreciate your frustration in the fact you tried to dispense money from an ATM but the delivery failed (I've had a bank card swallowed by a Sainsbury's cash point before, it happens).
Regardless of the branding on the machine none of the staff would've been able to access the machine to obtain your money.
A quick search on Google shows that at least since 2012 anyone who suffers from "cash retract" will have their account refunded automatically, regardless of whether they contact their bank (or not). It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

The staff in store are employees of the supermarket side of Tesco's super market business NOT Tesco bank.
They tell you to contact RBS as they manage them.0
