Fitted Bedroom Wardrobe's?

I am looking to have some fitted wardrobes fitted to my bedroom.
I have had JL and Lawrence Walsh over to do some designs and the prices have been between 10-12k.

Ideally we was hoping to pay around 6-8k.

Can anyone suggest any decent companies that are competitive in pricing, have a good pre/post sales support and are known for good workmanship?

We live in London, so if anyone has any recommendations for independent workers, this is something we would also be willing to consider.

Thank You

I appreciate that everyone has a different sense of value for money but I would question such sums on fitted wardrobes. Cost these against free standing wardrobes to put matters into perspective.

My sunroom was built for under £10000, this being from clearing the site through foundations, walls, roof and a high standard of specification and finish. There is no way I would be convinced that £6000-£8000 for fitted wardrobes represents value for money.

I accept that some will shoot me down for this comment but this is a money saving forum.

You need to be more specific in terms of where you are in London. London is a big place and North London tradesmen wont go south of the river for fear their teeth may bleed etc, and vice versa

I agree with Furts. It's not difficult to put some flatpak furniture together or find an oddjob man if you can't do it yourself,

But flat pack is seriously different from a bespoke fitted solution.

There are many reasons why people want a bespoke option - the room may be an attic room for instance which wont lend itself to IKEA, there may be particular internal configurations required that a flat pack option doesn't offer etc

I accept that people have a choice and this is entirely valid. However the bespoke option is most likely made with the same materials as a flat pack product. It is likely to be mdf or Egger board. It is unlikely to be joinery grade hardwood, or unsorted grade joinery redwood, made with dovetail joints.

I paid a carpenter to make a kitchen extension. I purchased the sheets of Egger board, the machined redwood, the hardwood cornice and pelmet. A breakfast room, and a utility room were fitted for well under a £1000 in materials. Even if one was paying London rates for a good carpenter I would guess that five days would be £1250.

Good quality internal doors could be purchased at £100 each, so add in ten doors and five days labour and even add in my £1000 spent on two rooms. Hey presto, a top notch, bespoke, fitted wardrobe in various bedrooms for £3250.

There really is no need to pay £10000-£12000 unless one has money burning a hole in one's pocket.
