If you take out a motor trade policy the companies that issue these type of road risk policies are generally very very bad insurers.
When you make a claim they will require you to provide genuine proof that you're a trader eg your accounts or adverts or sales / purchase invoices. If you can't provide these they will void your policy and won't pay your claim and quite probably any claim against you.
If you're stopped by traffic police most of them are very aware of people taking out motor trade policies who are not entitled to them. They have a habit of looking into them very carefully and reporting their findings back to the Insurers.
The policies will pay out on total loss claims on the "trade" value of your cars and not the retail value.
If you're not a genuine motor trader I strongly recommend you do not go down this route as the Insurers and Police are very proactive in rooting out people who are not motor traders0
