If only I knew... I'm 25 and single. If tomorrow I meet the woman of my life, I'll spend the rest of my life here; if however I get offered a great job in say Australia or Brasil, I might well take it. (and if UKIP gets its say, I might be deported :p ).

I do plan to stay the next few (3-5) years in the UK.

I guess in that case, it's important not to do anything that locks you into a particular strategy, or currency without good reason.

Do you also have savings in £?

Unless you have good reason (ie you need / want to spend it), it makes sense to leave the Euros, Pounds (and Reals and Dollars!) where they are. Changing currencies costs money - only a little bit, but a bit that you don't need to spend.

Conversely, you might decide "what the hell, I want to put down a deposit on a house in the UK". In that case, don't worry about the currency exchange costs (as long as you minimise them) or the exchange rate (it is what it is), just do it

Are you saying I should just wait then?
It depends if you need that money or not. I get 1.2% on my savings in Euro, it's not much but it's better than 0% on my pounds. I surely won't convert my Euros into pounds. If I have the chance or the need to go back to the continent, even only for shopping or holidays, I might get rid of some euros. I am looking for some investment, but my sum is lower than yours, therefore there's not much to invest in. I am considering silver, but the premium on physical is too high.

What's your home country? It's rather difficult to suggest things if you don't include key details like that.

Some brokers like Saxo Bank or Interactive Brokers are international and will allow you to deposit EUR. The fees may not be as competitive as the UK best buys, but allows you to keep your cash in EUR and not pay exchange fees.
