co-op bank

looking to swap one of my accounts to co-op as topcashback are offering money and also there is the £100 switch bonus. If I stay with them for say 2 months then move to another bank like first direct, can they do anything about you moving after just giving you £100?

going to do some bank hopping for free money lol but unsure if you are allowed to move once you get your £100 or if there is any small print saying you need to stay 12months or so

I would note Co-op can be very slow and hit and miss to pay up on recent experience - you will get the £100 but it may take time and you may have to pursue it as some posters have found.

Re the £40 top up from topcashback that may well take 3 months to pay out - so you might want to wait until that becomes payable before switching as will almost certainly lose that if you leave before its paid.
  • Hi, I moved to co-op at the end of Feb there because they were offering £100 to switch. In my opinion their customer service isn't the best, I had to ring up to confirm everything was going as planned after visiting a branch and found out that the fella I sat with for 30 mins didn't do the switching job properly. So make sure everything is as it should be when switching.
I was told on a few occasions that they can take up to 45 days to pay they £100 although I did get mine last week there. The minute I saw that it was in my account I contacted halifax who I banked with before going to co-op and I'm making the move to switch back to them getting £125 in the process.
Some people don't agree with doing this but considering the amount of bonuses the fat cats get and outrageous charges these banks lump on people i personally don't see anything worng with it. But that's just me. Just be careful that all your direct debits etc are switched properly as if there is any fees then the £100 won't really be worth it
