hi,
Currently awaiting my mortgage offer.
just did something a bit daft started searching on all of the major comparison sites to get home insurance researched and ready.
Will these sites have just left marks all over my credit file which the lender will not like now?
Thanks,

Potentially yes.
I think more of them now do soft searches but I suspect there will be some full footprints on there.
It is one of the downsides to using comparison sites.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. But home insurance has to be in place for the start of the mortgage right? So how to get the insurance sorted without looking for it?...0 -
Confused.com put full credit search footprints on your record; I've not seen any of the others do a credit search.
Whenever I use them, Compare the Market always comes out with the cheapest/best offers whether its car or home insurance. Even where confused says "you won't find this cheaper on any other comparison site", in some cases I've found the same policy with the same company significantly cheaper on compare the market compared to confused!0 -

is a full credit search classed as bad?0 -
I always give a false name, phone number and subtly different DOB etc when using these sites - its such a pain going through the opt-out for marketing and I am wary of the potential footprint even though they tend to appear as Admin Review on CRA I think.0

Interesting thread.
Got my house on the market just now and my car insurance is due in April. Would hate to be penalised for using a comparison site.
If I just go and get various quotes direct will they still appear on the credit file?Save 12k in 2014 member 056

Sorry but this makes no sense. How can there be a credit search before credit is asked for? I can understand it being done once a product is finally selected and monthly payments are the option requested but to make a search based purely on a quote is ridiculous seeing as many people will pay annually.0
