Default Registration Query

Hi,

I took out a payday loan in 2012 with Peachy Loans, which I did not pay back (I know, no judgements please). The default did not appear on any of my reports until I checked on 28/08/2014.

The "start date" for the credit agreement shows as 07/10/2012, with the "default date" as 07/01/2013. The company showing is "Motormile Finance UK". I have not made any contact with either Peachy of MMF.

I ordered reports on the following dates:

Equifax 04/07/2013 - default not shown

Experian 23/07/2013 - default not shown

Experian 10/10/2013 - default not shown

Equifax 07/05/2014 - default not shown

Experian 08/05/2014 - default not shown

Equifax 28/08/2014 - default shown

Equifax 18/01/2015 - default now not shown (not sure why)

Experian 21/01/2015 - default shown

So, somewhere between 07/05/2014 & 28/08/2014, the default was added to my Equifax. My most recent copy on 18/01/2015 no longer shows the default. I'm not sure why it no longer appears. For Experian, the default was added to my report between 08/05/2014 & 21/01/2015.

Can a default be registered with the CRA's at any point after the default date or does this have to be done within a certain time-frame?

Any advice would be great

Thanks :o

If it should have been recorded as a default at the time and for some reason wasn't, then yes they can backdate the entry and date.

Sometime there are other reasons such as not being quite recorded with the right details that can fail to make something show up until it is later corrected.

Basically though, if what is shown is accurate then it can stand.
