Equifax-address problem

According to Equifax, my 90 year old house doesn't exist and they don't even recognise the address on my credit card or bank account statements.
Maybe I don't exist!

Good job the are not entrusted with making lending decisions based on that....:beer:0

I guess that's fine if you intend to be completely debt free but it may negatively impact future lending decisions if a lender uses Equifax for credit checks. Experian and Call Credit may have the same issues with your details.
On the plus side, it's not that your credit history is lost for all eternity in the ether. It just means that until a valid address is supplied that matches the RM database the CRAs won't show the account info.0 -
After trying Equifax I managed to sign up with Experian and the good news is that I do exist and they recognise my house. The slightly worrying news is that according to their records I'm not on the Electoral Register, although I did send the form back last year.Noallegiance wrote: »I guess that's fine if you intend to be completely debt free but it may negatively impact future lending decisions if a lender uses Equifax for credit checks. Interesting comment on RM, (Royal Mail, I assume?); they actually insist that I live at a different, (but nearby) address even though I have told them 3 times to correct their records. When RM replied to my complaint letter they still sent it to the wrong address. Fortunately their Postmen are more intelligent than their computer!0 -

Hi Castle,
I would be happy to take a look into this for you, so that I can establish the reason why you're not currently showing on the Electoral Roll on your Experian credit report.
If you could email me your details (name/dob/current address and postal code) I'll be able to investigate the matter further for you.

Just to update this thread; I have been in touch with Experian and the good news is I'm on the Electoral Register.
Oh good, more junk mail!0 -

Not necessarily. You should make sure you're on the edited register. That does stop a hell of a lot of junk mail. CRAs have access to the full register, and it is a criminal offence for them to use it for anything other than adding to their files about you.0
