Barclaycard balance transfer one card more than once

Hi,

I have just completed an balance transfer onto my Barclaycard - however my Argos card is not recognised - this is due to Argos use an 15 number not the industry standard 16.

Anyway, my intention is the first balance transfer has completed, pay off the Argos card with my original credit card - and then complete an new balance transfer to my Barclaycard for 0% for three years?

So I am doing two balance transfers from one credit card?

Is this possible?

Won't work, you can't pay the Argos card off using a credit card - you used to be able to, but this was stopped about a year ago (it was always an unofficial glitch in their systems which accepted CC payments, which has been fixed).

ah, so because it is a store card they won't let you get it away?

Yes and no - OP was presumably referring to paying of the Argos card with the CC in the same way you'd use a debit card to do it - Next, Littlewoods, Very etc. allow this. Argos never did, but it used to work, and the payment went through as a purchase (so you got whatever reward points/Cashback etc your cc provider offered).

As for paying it off as a BT, it should be possible, in theory, but judging by others' experiences, it's incredibly difficult if not impossible. Calling the card provider (Barclaycard in this instance) and explaining the situation may result in them being able to make a manual payment to Argos to transfer the balance, but I guess this is at their discretion.

Easiest option, if available (and it sometimes is from Barclaycard), is to make a money transfer, paying cash into your current account, the using that to pay the Argos card. The 0% deals don't tend to be as long as a standard BT with Barclaycard though - best bet would be to apply for an MBNA issued card, as they all seem to permit Money Transfers at decent length 0% periods.
