Warning to others - 30 day on Experian.

Hi there

I've been a long-time reader and had an account before but lost the details. I followed the advice on checking my credit score with all the agencies. But I got a bit confused about the 30 days. I thought because I'd set it up at 9pm on the 26th of February, that I'd be within my free 30 day trial and could cancel it today without having to pay the fee (28th of March).

Not so - they count the thirty days from the beginning of the day you take out the trial membership. Despite a reasonable conversation with the first-line person and then with the second line manager, I was unable to persuade them to accept my view point.

So, I'm going to be charged 14.99 on Monday.

Please just a reminder to anyone with their Experian credit report free trial - make sure you cancel in plenty of time and don't suffer the same as me.

Kicking self for not being more organised. :(

I can't work out why you'd think that. Even if they worked it out by the hour you would have had to have cancelled by 9pm on the 27th (last night) to be within the 30 days.

It's easy to get confused over these things.

Best to just not bother signing up if you aren't 100% sure you want it and just get your £2 statutory report. It gives all the information you need to make an informed decision on your credit file.

Also, get the files from the other two agencies, Equifax and CallCredit/Noddle, for a totally full picture of everything listed.
