New Van paint fault...........

Just looking for some opinions before I take the van back to the dealership. I took delivery on Friday of a new Citroen Relay Enterprise van. It was delivered to my workshop by the dealership. I've known the salesman who I dealt with for years and he is an honest guy. We went through the basic tour of the van , had a look around the van and after he had left we noticed there were 2 paint chips out of the edge of the sliding side door. I took photo's immediately and phoned them up (even before I drove the van). They have "logged" the fault and I will tke the van to the dealership on Tuesday to have some mudflaps fitted ,which had'nt been delivered in time.
My question is, we intend to keep the van for at least 5 years or more so I'm concerned about the paint/corrosion warranty. The chips are around 8mm long, just on the edge of the door and flicked off but its back to primer so if they "repair" it is it likely to last as long as a factory finish. Its also a "pearlescent" colour so if they respray the door will it match?.
The warranty ,I believe is 3 years but as we want to keep it longer I don't want rust after 4 years.I'm guessing with a factory finish it would last a decade or so before we see any rust. My old van was a Vauxhall Movano and its still clean as a whistle after 13 years.
Views, opinions and advice is welcome. Not sure its grounds to reject the vehicle and to be honest apart from the chips I'm very happy with it.

the van is wrapped up in protective cellophane at the factory when the paint is still relatively soft. if the van is shipped to the dealerships storage yard it can be a few weeks or even a month before its sold, the paint cures with the cellophane on it in that time. plus workers who do logistical work can prang them and so can the transportation process damage them.
when the cellophane is removed sometimes it takes a bit of leading edge paint off in the form of a chip, dealers usually spot it and have it touched in and flatted back by their body shop or a mobile chip repair place but sometimes they get forgotten or simply ignored if they rushed to get a few out that week.
We had a van like this, a fiat van where the paint had shrunk back around the cellophane and you could see the outlines of those patches around the door edges and around the bottoms of the van, the dealer had tried to remove it couldn't so we had an appointment to return to have the panels repainted that were affected.
Just ask the dealer to have the van back and re-inspected for paint issue's he should refer you to the onsite bodyshop (if they have one) where you can ask the body shop to grab a water based paint pen and mark them all to be done youll still retain the 12month paint guarantee, and anti perforation warranty then.0 -
How do you know the paint on the van is "factory" paint anyway? Transport damage is common, and a high percentage of cars and vans are refinished in some way, either on import or at the dealership.
The paint is warranted for two years, plus perforating corrosion for five years on Citroen vans. But it's very unlikely that a chip on a door edge would lead to any perforating corrosion anyway - that comes from the inside out. Topcoat paint is not particularly important to corrosion protection, anyway - it's primarily cosmetic. The primer, plus coatings on the steel under the primer, are the important elements there.
If the paint is repaired under warranty, it will be regarded as exactly the same as the paint applied in the factory or in any transit repairs, as far as Citroen UK or the dealer are concerned. Obviously, you would be well within your rights to make sure any repairs are a good match.0 -
New, as in brand new and built to your order?0

Get the dealers to sort it for you. Shouldn't be a big issue.
You don't have to worry about rust on a new Citroen. That is a problem for the Transit and Mercedes buyers to deal with0 -

Cheers for that atrix,
We like the Proceed , currently have a Focus and will change in a couple of years. What is your opinion of the Pro ceed?..........Happy with it?0 -

optional extra's start form £39.99 like the sport pedals (that sets the cabin sports look off IMHO and are grippy not like poor aftermarket ones), then the more you pend the more you make it unique and if you bribe the dealer a little they may throw in the pedals for you as they are fitted at the dealership upon delivery so they carry stock.
6 speed gearbox. 126BHP and quite a bit of torque behind that too.
even a base spec proceed carries the same spec level a ceed level 2.
the proceed disregarding the lack of rear doors as it a 3dr and ceed may look the same when viewed apart but put the two together in the flesh and the front end has a different design bumper is different, fog lamps are different lion grill is different.
Ive had no problems or issues with mine.
rear leg space is good and access to rear seats is good for passengers, boot space is the same as the 5 dr but hatch access is smaller due to the rear hatch design.
Inferno red metallic, orange metallic, black metallic, or pearl white are the options for colour. I opted for inferno red metallic and in the sun it pops really nice.
Ipod and USB connectivity plus hands free blue tooth and cruise control as standard.0
