Utility providers when moving

Hi.

When moving into another property, do you have to contact the energy providers that the previous tenant used at first, and then look for any better deals. Or can you find the best deal when moving in and arrange for them to supply the gas/electric from the start?

Hope that makes sense. Thanks.

When you move in your are on a deemed contract with the existing supplier. You can then change if you wish but it takes a while to complete.

remember to note your readings the second you have ceased responsibilty of the building just before you shut the front door for the last time, and grab those readings at your new place. If they re prepays dont use any old key/cards you find. Note reads and contact new supplier
