Copying photos with original properties information

I'm stuck with how to copy my digital photos from my camera SD card.
I really want backups onto CD (or DVD) but although I can copy the image using windows, I don't seem to be able to transfer the time and when the original picture was taken. I can get the camera to mark the date on the photo when they're taken, but this does tend to spoil the image for framing/gifts etc.
Not major - but as they're baby photos the date seems important.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Becki.

if you right click on the transfered image file and select properties you should still have the correct "created day"0

Thanks, but when I do that it shows the time and date I made the copy, not the original time and date the photo was taken. Am I doing something wrong?Beckipeg

Digital cameras may have the feature of imprinting the date/time onto the picture but most people find this really infuriating and want to know how to remove it. The image file contains EXIF information i.e. date, time, shutter speed, f stop etc.etc. which can be displayed by most software i.e. Irfanview. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I got this from the Irfanview forums.....
'In Irfanview you can see the EXIF data, and you can see and edit the IPTC data. You can even use either data set to modify the name of the images.
But you can't edit the EXIF data'0 -
I had a similar problem to this and found a workaround rather than a solution.
if you right-click on the image and select properties, you then fill in a "Summary" on the third tab and in there you can put the date/time created, etc.
This will appear if you hover over the file and give you the information you need.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0
