Tumble Dryer Vent Box

I am having my kitchen done out at the minute and the dryer will be moved to a non external wall.

We were going to have to run the vent hose for quite a distance to the outside wall but I just saw this:

Has anybody ever used one? Would it work ok or will it still mean there is damp? I know it means emptying it out every so often but I would much rather do that!

Will it still steam the windows up or would I not notice a difference?

We have had and used one of these for many years,it does work but you do need to keep remembering to put cold water into it when you use the dryer. Also they do collect a lot of dust on the outside so you are forever washing it off and with our dryer the hose fits on the lower back so the dryer is about 4/6 inches away from the wall with the box on the top back of the dryer and looks very untidy IMO

Thankyou, I may just get an extra long vent hose and run it round and box it in with plasterboard in the room behind the kitchen and have it going out properly while everywhere is being done.

It sort of works. It will reduce condensation rather than prevent it entirely. Ice packs are essential - you'll melt 2-4 of them per load. Once the ice is melted, it'll be as ineffective as letting it vent directly into the room.

It's a lot of hassle. I'd strongly consider a condensing model of dryer if you can't go through the wall/out of a window.

I have used one before, but it proved to only sort of work, and proved to be a bit of a pain having to take it apart to keep filling it up with water.
As suggested, not exactly moneysaving, but a condenser dryer may be the way to go
