Setting questions for a general knowledge charity quiz
Options
Hi Folks
I have been asked to set up questions for a local charity quiz. The categories range from Film & TV, History, News & Current Affairs, Science & Nature, and Sport.
I don't want the questions to be too hard, and on the other hand make them too easy. I was wondering if it would be best just to copy some questions from doing a 'Google' search rather than spending loads of time setting up the questions myself.
However, if I get questions from doing a 'Google' search, then it might may it easy for the 'professional quizzers' to answer the questions quite easily.
What would you suggest is the best way of going about this?
Thank You.

Wander into a few pubs and see what ideas you pick up there ...
I know the chap who sets our quiz questions has at least one book!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Have about 2/3rds of the questions as fairly easy, so most people can get them right and feel they've done well. The remaining third should be harder and they will determine the winner.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

And watch programmes like The Chase and the like.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
A nice quiz I go to says for example, the team that comes third gets £ 10 , the team that comes 9th gets £8 etc, so that professional pub quizzers don't always get the money-everyone gets a chance.0

Would certainly bung in a few Soap/Pop/Celeb questions in. You could also be a bit creative with the prizes - eg stuff donated rather than cash (the charity should be getting the cash). Write prizes on bits of paper, fold and drop in your flat cap - winner gets first pick etc...
BL - charity events should be fun.0 -
One round we had at the last quiz I went to was simple maths questions from an 11+ test of some years ago ...
Well, I say simple, but several teams disagreed with one of the answers and were able to convince the quiz master that we were right.Signature removed for peace of mind0
