  • Their is a glitch on MSE with the awful new format as well!

    Back to Nat West

This sort of thing is becoming all too commonplace, that is why I always have drawn out my money and kept just a small buffer in the bank and I only use cash.

What would happen if people couldn't get to their money for weeks especially those who live from day to day and have no food stores or back up cash to buy petrol etc?

The ensuing panic and riots would be scary

Good reason to have a credit card so you can pay for things and to have multiple bank accounts so you still have access to cash.

I said this on the last news story about glitches, and I will say it again now:

Have more than one means of paying for goods.

I don't know why MSE don't have this as an option. The article was about switching, or complaining, or redress after the event, but we know that there will be another problem at some point with some bank. The only way to prevent yourself getting caught out in future is to have more than one way to pay.

There was somebody on the house board whose money hadn't turned up - and where this might have been the reason.

They'd sold their house, handed over the keys, but had no keys for new house ... stuff taken off by removals people into weekend storage, £600 additional moving bill and they're camped out in a hotel until Monday hoping it'll all be OK.
